Web3 fan engagement app.
Overview
Fan3 is a new Web3 startup that connects fans with their favourite artists through blockchain technology and digital ownership. We work for names like Nicki Minaj, Liam Payne, Misfits Boxing, Sasha LNOE, and more.
As the Lead UX/UI Designer, I led the creation of the digital platform, website and design system. I developed key products like FanConnect, which uses NFC wristbands to capture fans at live events, and FanReach, a comprehensive digital engagement and rewards solution. In addition to my role in UX/UI design, I managed the branding and logotype design. This involved working closely with branding designers to create a cohesive and engaging brand identity that reflects the innovative spirit of Fan3.
Challenges
– Technical Integration: Integrating Web3 technologies and blockchain was complex. We simplified user interactions by handling actions like creating crypto wallets and minting NFTs in the background to ensure a seamless experience.
– User Education: Educating users on blockchain and digital ownership was key. I developed onboarding processes to guide them through the basics and how to interact with digital assets.
– Real-Time Performance: Ensuring smooth real-time updates and interactions required optimising performance to handle live event data and user actions without lag.
– Scalability: The platform needed to scale effectively to manage high user demand and transactions during major events, supporting various products and a large number of users simultaneous.
Process
Research and Planning Stakeholder
– Workshops and Interviews: I conducted workshops and interviews with the Fan3 team, developers, and potential users to gather insights on requirements, expectations, and pain points.
– User Flow Mapping: I created detailed user flows to map out all possible interactions within the app, focusing on simplifying complex processes, such as blockchain transactions and digital asset management.
– Wireframing and Prototyping: I developed low-fidelity wireframes to outline the basic structure and navigation, followed by high-fidelity prototypes to visualise the final design. These prototypes were used for user testing and feedback collection.
– Visual Design: I created a clean, modern visual design that aligns with Fan3’s branding, focusing on making the interface visually appealing and easy to navigate. Custom icons and graphics were designed to enhance the visual experience.
– Testing and Iteration User Testing and Feedback: The team conducted extensive usability testing with external users, collecting feedback through surveys, interviews, and usability testing sessions. The designs were iteratively refined based on user feedback.
– Performance Optimisation: I worked closely with developers and product owner to optimise the app’s performance, ensuring real-time updates and interactions were delivered without lag.
Outcome
The platform has attracted 54,056 users and facilitated the creation of 52,235 crypto wallets. Impressively, 52,234 NFTs have been claimed, showcasing strong participation. Additionally, 32,279 wallet passes have been installed, further enhancing user engagement. For high-profile campaigns, Fan3 achieved a 78% average email collection rate, with 75% resulting in NFT claims. The impressive 97% conversion rate from email collection to NFT claim highlights the platform’s effectiveness. The success of Fan3 can be attributed to its carefully crafted UX/UI design, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience with minimal drop-off. The platform’s simplicity and user-friendly interface have significantly contributed to high engagement and conversion rates.
