Kia ev6 launch website
Overview
To launch the EV6, KIA’s first hybrid car, the goal was to create a unique experience for both the public and the internal team. We did this through two main initiatives:
Challenge
Given the COVID-19 pandemic and related safety protocols, both initiatives needed to be flexible and fully online, able to incorporate new content and adapt to evolving circumstances throughout the three stages of the project: Teaser, Live Event, and Outcome.
The EV6 live event showcased the design, features, and performance of the new electric vehicle. The event featured a live stream presentation by KIA executives, including the CEO, highlighting the EV6’s key features, such as its long-range battery, fast charging capabilities, and advanced driver-assistance systems.
The event also included interactive exhibits and displays, giving attendees a chance to experience the EV6’s design and technology firsthand. This included a virtual reality experience allowing attendees to explore the interior of the car and a demonstration of the vehicle’s autonomous parking feature.
Process
I led workshops with stakeholders to define the end-to-end site flow and establish the project phases. This included creating a master workflow document and a project timeline that detailed monthly content updates and specific placements on the website. This structured approach ensured that all team members were aligned with project goals and timelines.
A significant challenge was designing a site adaptable to various event features, including a live event screen, AR experience, press chat, and the KIA EV6 showcase. Collaborating closely with the development team, I used user research insights to create a flexible, responsive layout that highlighted the KIA EV6 while providing an intuitive experience for all user groups. This design allowed users to seamlessly navigate different event stages, ensuring a smooth and engaging interaction with the site.
Outcome
I designed and built of a comprehensive prototype for the entire user experience, both for the internal and external initiatives. This included a detailed explanation of the project’s different stages, along with a timeline showcasing how the websites would evolve on a month-by-month basis. At the outset, the client and tech team had some difficulty understanding how the proposed structural changes would be implemented. However, the prototype proved to be a valuable tool in helping them visualise the final product and overcome any lingering concerns.
